Anonymous Tip Leads To Arrest Of Shooting Suspect In Atlantic City

A fugitive was arrested after an anonymous text to Atlantic City's tip411 line, authorities said.

Ayman H. Shiham, 21, of Atlantic City was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and other weapons offenses, Atlantic City police said.

On Tuesday, March 14, the police department received a text through the tip411 anonymous reporting system indicating that Shiham had entered a residence in the 3800 block of Ventnor Avenue, police said.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the residence and set up a perimeter around the building. Officers made contact with Shiham who surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred on Friday, March 10. At 7:27 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 3800 block of Ventnor Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert. 

Officers found a 29-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Evidence of gunfire was also found at the scene. The victim was taken by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of injuries that were considered non-life threatening.

Shiham was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
